Linteolum for Water, Stone, Body and Spirit
Campul lung moldovenesc
June 19, 1986

I lived this "happening" a month after the accident of Chernobyl in the Moldavia water.
In the middle of a summer day on the creation camp of Campulung Moldovenesc in Bukovina I thought it out and felt it as liveliness, as an extension of what I draw and paint in my studio. It is a simple experience of form and light with particulary expressive artistic and spiritual values that gave me the emotion of a ritual in progress.
Procession

1991 / Art Museum
I. Performance festival "Titless State"

The "happening" called "Procesion" is a parable socially and politically, but also philosophically and artistically articulated. It has an ample development, crosses the Union place and then gets to the decrepit building having a valus of symbol of the whole society, the Art Museum of Timisoara. The climax - a percussion recital. The procession travels through the baroque palace and gets again in front banners on the scaffold preparing the restoration of the building. The carriers of banners with symbolic motifs are artists, art critics and students. An intense emotional state was created by everyone's undertaking to carry a symbol. The "Procession" was awarded a prize at the Festival of "Performance" - "Titless State" of Timisoara.

White Zone

"White Area" is a "happening" and a "performance" at the same time, recorded on a videotape of 7 minutes. The topic is spiritual and individual freedom, absolute freedom, its illusion. The nude in painting, drawing and "happening" as well symbolizes for me the vulnerability of the pure spirit in cotact with the aggressiveness of society, the aggressiveness of the illusion of freedom. The space in which it takes place is a completely white room (the white has a maximum mobility) with 17 niches inhabited by 17 nudes. The rise in spiritual strain determines the nudes to get out of the niches and gather around a central post in the room. The characters' movement around this post is circular and obsessive, similar to prison rounds. It can be, more than anything else, a behaviour study, but also a fine art manifestation under the artist's eyes that see through a crystal ball turning upside down the image, but not the symbol, the metaphor.
